Bungalows in San Blas

These places are good monthly rentals. They also have weekly and daily rates but you get a much better deal by the month.   Bungalows are furnished - all have private baths, hot water and a small kitchen. Please do not write to me for reservations.

Tesoro de San Blas   Costs $350 a month.  This is a great little place. They have 3 bungalows and a small room for rent.  The bungalows have 2 rooms plus a bath, cooking facilities,  and hot water.  It is located right on the estuary so you can sit and watch the fishing boats go by.  There is a big yard where you can hang a hammock.  The manager, Mercedes Robles, loves to garden.  The yard has mangos, papayas, bananas, an almond tree and many other tropical plants.  This is where I stay.   I guess truth in advertising would require that I tell you I have an interest in the place, but I'm not sure what that interest is.  I don't own the place and I don't work here or make any money off of it. You can visit their website at Tesoro de San Blas.

Casa Roxanna  This is another great little place but a bit more expensive.  This place is not a paint peeler so if you are worried about culture shock it could be a good place to start.  It has a pool, air conditioning and direct TV.  The 2 guys that own it are very friendly and helpful and the rest of the staff is nice as well. Somehow they manage to keep the place in perfect condition. This place is very popular and is often filled up so be sure to make reservations. Check out their website at Casa Roxanna.

El Encanto at Santa Cruz  This is a beautiful place with oceanfront apartments and rooms back in the jungle.  They have 7 acres right next to the Hotel Miramar Paraiso.  In the back they have gardens and a jungle reserve that is good for birdwatching.  They also have facilities for hosting retreats. Santa Cruz is about 20 miles from San Blas. The village is smaller so there is not much activity but this is a great place to go to relax.  Also, the bugs aren't as bad at Santa Cruz.  See their web site, El Encanto, for rates and more info.

Contigo San Blas
(was Rafael's Garden Apartments)  Costs about $340 a month.  This is a good choice.  The apartments are very clean and there's an enclosed garden with date palms, ti plants, banana trees and more.  They even have ovens - a rarity for bungalows in San Blas.

Bungalows Conny  Another option is the Bungalows Conny out on the airstrip. It is a new place with a pool, airconditioning and TV. Their web site is at Bungalows Conny and I've heard they actually answer their emails!.

Quinta California  Another winner with 2 bedroom apartments for about $300 a month.  They are located about halfway between town and the beach and have a beautiful courtyard.  Internet is available for customers.  Their web site is at Quinta California.

Also very popular is Suites San Blas about halfway between the plaza and the beach. It has balconies overlooking the mountains, daily maid service and a large pool and yard. A few of the rooms have small kitchens and monthly rentals are available.

Santa Rita Bungalows   You can get a real good price here.  The rooms are large with small furniture. It is conveniently located about 2 blocks from the plaza. The place stays fairly busy due to the low cost. If cost is a big concern, this could be the place.
