Banamex has announced they will no longer change dollars into pesos as of the end of February 2009. This means there is no place to change dollars in San Blas. Very few places take dollars and even fewer take credit cards. If you do pay in dollars in a restaurant you will get a very bad exchange rate - perhaps 10 to a dollar instead of 14 to a dollar. Do not bring dollars. Bring pesos or your ATM card!
